What are the Goals of Afterschool STEM Coaches?
Engage more girls in out-of-school time STEM learning. According to Pew Research Center, women made up only 25% of computer scientists and 15% of engineers as of 2019, yet millions of these careers go unfilled each year due to lack of qualified applicants. Afterschool is the perfect time to cultivate positivity towards science and build STEM identity in youth of every gender, ethnicity, race, and background to build a brighter future for everyone.
Create a pathway into an exciting career in afterschool and summer learning. is the Afterschool STEM Coach program is a service-learning experience – one that provides members with the opportunity to build a new career path in education, develop a resume-building skill set, grow their career network, opportunities for professional and personal growth, and pursue a passion for helping youth succeed.
